DR. CHARLES H. UHL
Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Dr. Charles H. Uhl, age 92, of Jefferson, formerly of Ithaca, New York, who passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010. Dr. Uhl was a Professor of Plant Biology with Cornell University for 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Natalie W. Uhl of Jefferson. Children: Natalie J., Mary, Charles, and Elizabeth. Brother, Robert I. Uhl of Atlanta. Grandchildren: Toby, Hugh, and Amy.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 3, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend John Simmons and Reverend David Tinsley officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cornell Plantations, One Plantations Road Ithaca, NY 14850.

We were sad to learn about the death of Charlie - a great man in every sense of the word. We send our heartfelt condolences to Natalie and the family. We still have fond memories of our year and subsequent visits to Ithaca and all the kind help we received from Charlie.

It is with deep regret and sadness that I learned of the death of an excellent friend and scientist and teacher. I will always remember his kindness to me when I first arrived at Cornell, a kindness that was maintained and grew over the 32 years of our friendship.
