He was a great person and always made me smile. I remember when he lived in the same place I did years ago. I'm so sorry for your loss. And to his children. R.I.P D. Withe the rest of our friends and family. Do what you enjoy the most.

Dear Faye,
I know you are hurting from losing your baby boy. And yes, no matter how old Derrick was, you see him as your forever "baby boy". God has his arms around him now. No more pain, but Heavenly bliss! Derrick will always be with you in spirit and in your heart. Sending prayers and love.

My dearest brother, I lay here on the eve of your memorial service trying to gather my thoughts and emotions. Something I have not been able to do since the moment I found out. Your infectious smile and laughter is something I long to see and hear again. You always told me how proud you were of me and ended every conversation with "I love you sis". What I would give to hear that one more time. I just hope you know how loved and cherished you were, and always will be. Dad, Brian and I will take care of Mom. Until we meet again my sweet brother.

When you passed I was left with a hole in my heart. Not only did I lose the father of my children but I lost my best friend. I know your not in pain anymore and that you are in heaven watching down on us all. Even after we split up we were there for each other. I’ll miss your smile, you driving me crazy, Correcting my words, and the way you made me feel better when I was upset and sad. Thank you for coming into my life, helping raise our beautiful children and being my best friend.
I will always love you. Till we meet again

"Hi Aunt Faye" then a little chuckle is what I'm used to hearing when you call. Boy, I would like to hear that just one more time. You left us way too soon. Rest my dear nephew, we'll meet again and we will rejoice with the rest of the family who went before you. I love and will miss you

Although I only met my biggest brother-in-law once, I will always remember his enormous smile with the personality to match. I appreciate the sincerity Derrick had as we shared the "big brother to little sister's husband" talk. Rest assured, your little sis is in good hands. We will all miss you.
