Dorothy Hume Obituary
FREEVILLE - Dorothy E. Hume, age 73, of 597 West Dryden Road, Freeville, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at the Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca after a long illness. Dorothy was born Feb. 15, 1935 in Cortland, a daughter of the late Eugene and Bertha Hulslander. She was graduated from Dryden High School in 1953. Dorothy was employed years ago at the former Cayuga Electric Supply and later at Cortland Wholesale Electric. She enjoyed horses and other animals and assisted her husband, Dr. William T. Hume, DVM in his small animal practice. Dorothy enjoyed going to horse races, playing cards and caring for and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, William T. Hume, DVM; her sons, Eugene (Jan) Moon of Groton, John Hume of Elkton, DE and William (Stephanie) Hume, Jr. of Freeville; grandchildren, Edward Weisberg, Amanda Moon, Sarah Hume and Bradley Hume; and a great-granddaughter, Adison Weisberg. She was predeceased by a son, Scott Hume; and a grandson, Eugene Philip "Charlie" Moon, Jr.
Private Graveside Services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Perkins Funeral Home assisted the family. Friends are asked to consider a memorial donation to Meals on Wheels, FoodNet, 2422 N. Triphammer Road, Ithaca, NY 14850. www.perkinsfuneralhome.com
