Dorothy Park's legacy is visible in so many places across our community. Right down the road from my house is the Dorothy and Roy Park Pet Adoption Center, a celebrated no-kill facility that puts compassion first. (That's where my dog She-Ra came from.) In the hills above my home is the Park Preserve, protecting beaver dams and headwaters streams to Six Mile Creek and Cayuga Lake. Everywhere we go in Ithaca, Dorothy's thoughtful vision is present, alive and vibrant, every day. Amazing. You must be missing her very much. My condolences - and my gratitude.

My condolences go out the family for your loss. I never had the privilege of meeting Mrs. Park, but did work closely with her late husband Roy during my Cornell days working with Roy annually on the Durland Lecture. We'd meet each year up in the Tower Club to get Roy's input on the speaker, guest list and other details. Then I'd drive with Roy in one of his nice cars to go pick up the speaker from their private planes on the Ithaca airport tarmac (no security concerns then) Thanks so much to the Park family for doing so much for our community in so so many ways. -Paul Brenner

Thoughts and prayers to all the family. I met Dorothy when she would pick her grand daughter Alicia up from preschool. Always paused to find out how everyone's day had been.

Dottie Park was a most gracious woman. She also did not suffer fools or sycophants. In my interactions with her I was struck by her acute observations and keen wit. She was a gifted storyteller and made me laugh often.

She led a remarkable long and active life, working well into her 90s and positively influencing so many organizations and individual lives. Her love for animals and Nature was legendary, and her attempts to save deer from being slaughtered in Cayuga Heights and the Cornell campus were noble. I know she was devastated when the officials of Cayuga Heights decided to allow sharpshooters to begin killing deer.

Her large personal gift to Ithaca College's School of Business was intended not only for the design and construction of a small-carbon-footprint building but also to inspire socially-conscious business enterprise learning opportunities for students.

Ithaca is the wonderful place to live, work, and study it is, largely because of the Park Foundation, which was for a long time guided by Dottie Park's passions and philanthropic priorities.

Her daughter, Adelaide, embodies her mother's fire, now leading from her own extraordinary vision and generosity.

A wonderful legacy indeed.

I send Adelaide, daughter Alicia, and all who loved Mrs. Park my heartfelt sympathies. May you draw on many happy memories to help ease you through this difficult time.

May Dottie Park rest in peace.
