James Kenjerska Obituary

JAMES J. KENJERSKA
ITHACA - James J. Kenjerska, 88, of Ithaca, died on Tuesday, September 2nd, at Hospicare. He was the son of the late Paul and Mary Trala Kenjerska of Ithaca.
James graduated from Ithaca High and proudly served his country in World War II. He retired from the Post Office in 1987 after 33 years. James was an avid fisherman and a master gardener. In the 1990's the Victory Garden, a PBS show out of Boston, recognized his garden as one of the top 100 gardens in the US.
His wife, Ida, of 59 years predeceased James in March 2007. He is survived by his daughters, Mary (Terry) Cole of Ithaca and Patricia (Dwayne) Stevens of Chesapeake, VA; and his five grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Frank Kenjerska; and his sister, Lucille (Donnie) June, both of Ithaca; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was also predeceased by his brothers, Anthony, Paul, John and Louis; and his sisters, Julia, Stella and Mildred.
In keeping with James' wishes, there will be no calling hours. There will be a burial service at the Calvary Cemetery on Saturday, September 6, at 12 Noon. Family and friends are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in James' memory may be made to Hospicare of Tompkins County, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850. Bangs Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

It was a pleasure to become reacquainted with your Dad and to hear old stories. I only wish it had been sooner. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mary/Patty - I am so sorry for your lost. I mostly remember Uncle Red for his wonderful spaghetti and remember the time Mary laughed at me because I had trouble figuring out how to get the slippery spaghetti on my fork.

I will call latter in the week - Linda
