JOSEPH D. MINOGUE
ITHACA - Joseph D. Minogue, 82, a retired university administrator for Cornell University, Fordham University and Ithaca College, died peacefully on January 29, 2005 in Ithaca, NY. He was born in Long Island, son of the late Dennis and Margaret Byrne Minogue.Mr. Minogue moved to Ithaca in 1941 to attend Cornell University from which he received his Bachelor's degree (Class of 1945). He served in the US Army in France and Germany during WW II. Fundraising was his great love, work and main hobby. Outside of work, he raised money for several community causes, his church and the Class of 1945. He was also a supporter of Cornell University research lab for diseases of dogs. After retiring, he continued his volunteer work. He enjoyed golf, classical music and was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and NY Giants. Until recently, he was an active member of the City Club, St. Catherine of Siena Church, his fraternity - Alpha Sigma Phi and Cornell's Class of 1945.Mr. Minogue was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Nader) Minogue, who died in 1960. A loving and devoted father and grandfather, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Diane Minogue and John R. Borthwick of Washington, DC; his son, Dennis Minogue of California; granddaughters, Claire and Cleo Borthwick of Washington, DC; and his brother, John Minogue of Long Island.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Michael Mahler on Saturday at 12 noon at St. Catherine of Siena Church. Friends may call on Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Bangs Funeral Home. Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Oneonta, will be delayed until spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Ithacare Quality of Life Fund, 1 Bella Vista Dr., Ithaca, NY 14850, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
