King Hardy Obituary

KING HARDY, JR.
King Hardy, Jr., 87, departed this life Tuesday, August 14th, 2007 in Atlanta, GA. He was born in Georgia on March 26th, 1920 to the late King and Mattie Hardy. King was a WWII veteran, who served in the Army. King lived in Ithaca for over 40 years before retiring to Atlanta. He was a well known chef working at Rogues Harbor Inn in Lansing and various Cornell fraternities. One of King's favorite hobbies was fishing as well as baking pies for the Ithaca Farmers Market.
He is survived by his children, Betty Smith, Tampa, FL, Charlotte (Ira) Sawyer, Macedon, NY, Elizabeth Williams, Ithaca, NY, King D. Hardy, Jesse Hardy and Daniel Hardy of Atlanta, GA, W. Mae Louis, Ithaca, NY and Rachel Hardy, Spencer, NY; 19 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister, Mattie Parker of Sarasota, FL. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Ester Hardy and two sons, Charlie Hardy and Ted J. Hardy.
Calling hours will be Saturday, August 18th from 10a.m.-11a.m. at Our Lord's Temple C.O.G.I.C., 443 N. Tioga St. Funeral services will start at 11a.m. with Pastor Calvin F. Christian officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

With much sympathy for the family. He was always a good man. Friendly and was sincerely missed when the family moved south. The Old West Village days. Mae, Jesse, Daniel, and Jessica are the family that I knew well. My families condolences.
