MARYANN NOLAN FRANKLIN
VENICE CENTER - After a courageous battle with Leukemia for nineteen months, Maryann Nolan Franklin, 44, of Venice Center, died Friday, March 5, 2004, at Strong Memorial Hospital. Her loving husband, Don, was at her side throughout her ordeal. Not only did he provide for her every need, but also made countless trips to both Syracuse and Rochester.Maryann was born January 15, 1960 in Auburn, the daughter of William and Marjorie Nolan of Venice Center. She was a graduate of Southern Cayuga School and Tompkins-Cortland Community College. Maryann was a teacher aide at Boynton Middle School in Ithaca, the Head Start Program in King Ferry and Genoa, and for Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES at Auburn High School. Most recently, she was a teacher aide through BOCES for the Moravia School District, until her illness.In addition to her parents, Maryann is survived by her husband, Don; two sons, Jason and Dana Franklin; her two brothers, Terry and his wife, Cheryl of King Ferry, and Christopher and his wife, Elizabeth of Manchester, CT; her two sisters, Peg Cook and her husband, Robert of Jordan, and Nancy Nolan and her companion, Robert Hadsell of Shortsville. Her nieces and nephews, Brian, Erin and Megan Cook of Jordan, Annie and Jane Nolan of Manchester, CT, Jennifer Longley and her husband, Douglas, and their son, Aiden of Fulton, and Curtis Lonsky of King Ferry also survive her. She has many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who survive, including her loving Godmother, Joan Powers. She was predeceased by her best friend, Kate Hagin Nolan, on June 17, 2003.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday (March 10) at Our Lady of the Lake Church in King Ferry, with Rev. Donald Curtiss officiating. There are no calling hours.Contributions in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Blood & Bone Marrow Transplant Program Education Fund, Strong Memorial Hospital, 601 Elmwood Ave- # 650, Rochester, NY 14642.Arrangements are with the Shurtleff Funeral Home, Genoa.
