Penny Roberts Obituary
Marathon - Penny Stewart Roberts, age 59, of Marathon, NY passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Hospicare, Ithaca, NY, after a valiant battle with cancer. Penny was born on October 29, 1959 in Cortland, NY. She was the daughter of the late Howard and Aletha McConnell Stewart.
Penny graduated from Marathon Central School in June 1977. She enlisted in the Army in February, 1978 and was honorably discharged in February, 1982. Penny worked at Security Mutual Insurance Company for 22 years, until her illness forced her into retirement.
Her love of children led her in 2011 to adopt her two children, Joshua and Aliyah who survive her. Penny is also survived by her sisters, Connie (Angelo) Mastronardi, Donna (Gene) Hall, Deborah Waltz and a brother, Chip (Patricia) Stewart. She is also survived by her nieces, Robin Voltz, Lesley Waltz, Tracey Mastronardi and Jill Knout as well as 6 great-nieces and 1 great-nephew. Penny was predeceased by a brother, Gerry Stewart and a niece, Sydney Stewart.
Friends and family may call from 1-2 pm on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Perkin's Funeral Home, Dryden, NY. A Memorial service will be immediately following with Tom Boice officiating. Burial will follow at Marathon Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions in Penny's memory to Hospicare, 172 East King Road, Ithaca, NY 14850. www.perkinsfuneralhome.com
