RICHARD D. MAINE
ITHACA - Richard D. Maine, age 64, of 259 N. Applegate Road, Ithaca, NY, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008, at home.
Born on May 29, 1944 in Sherwood, NY, Dick was the son of the late Robert and Carrie (Robinson) Maine Sr. After serving four years in the Air Force, he was employed at the Tompkins County Airport before going to work for Marion Electric Company. Over the years he was also a member of the Masons, the American Legion, and the VFW. Dick loved to be out on the golf course with good friends, and his membership in the Hillendale Golf Course gave him that pleasure for many years.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Maine, Sr; brothers, Eugene Maine and Donald Ross; and a sister, Myrtle Buckingham.
Dick is survived by his wife of 43 years, Bonnie Miller Maine of Ithaca; son, Victor (Michelle) Maine of Owego, NY; daughter-in-law, Kathy (Tom) Maine Radka of Waterloo, NY; brothers, Alvin (Elsa) Ross of Lansing, NY, Robert (Audrey) Maine of Lansing, NY, Floyd Maine and Jonah (Sue) Maine, both of Groton, NY, Marshall (Karol) Maine of S. Berwick, ME, Roger (Linda) Maine of Moravia, NY, Edward (Peggy) Maine of Peoria, AZ, and James Maine of Florence, SC; his sister, Peggy Boutoille of Groton, NY; grandson, Rodney (Jennifer Sutfin) Maine, Jr. of Ithaca, NY; and granddaughters, Jennifer Maine of Waterloo, NY; and Katelyn and Kyra Maine both of Owego, NY.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church, Seneca Rd., Trumansburg, on Saturday, September 6th at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Frank Adams officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks those who wish to remember Dick in the form of a contribution to kindly consider Hospicare of Tompkins County, 172 King Rd, Ithaca, NY 14850; the First Baptist Church, 4443 Seneca Rd., Trumansburg, NY 14886; or the American Cancer Association, 13 Beech St., Johnson City, NY 13790.

Bonnie & Family,
What a wonderful gentle giant Dick was. We remember all the help he offered us when we had El-Be's Deli. He made Thursday nights special as you always looked forward to seeing him come to the front counter at Ide's. He will greatly be missed. God Bless You and Your Family.

You were both so very lucky to have that amazing relationship that you had for all those years. Remember all those days of fishing and talking about the good old days. He loved you so much! Take care and know that your Grandpa will always be looking over you.
