Robert Lodder Obituary

ROBERT W. LODDER
TRUMANSBURG - Robert W. Lodder, of 12 Prospect St., Trumansburg, passed away unexpectedly on March 11, 2009 while undergoing treatment for cancer. Prior to his diagnosis, Bob enjoyed each day, embracing life with fullness. The struggle and fight of this battle drew Bob to a state of exhaustion.
Born on October 19, 1936 in Baldwinsville, NY, Bob spent the majority of his life in Trumansburg, a community that he cherished. He graduated from Ithaca High School in 1955, served in the US Navy and graduated from Cornell University in 1963, accomplishments of which he was very proud.
In Trumansburg Bob merged his dream and passion into a business, T-Burg Toys, where he made and distributed wooden toys. He ran T-Burg Toys for thirty-five years, until last December. Recently Bob enjoyed writing two books. The first, Fish Creek, tells of his experience as a young man in the Forest Service. The second is about his boyhood in Baldwinsville. Bob was also known for his community involvement and deep dedication and service to the Church of the Epiphany.
Bob is survived by his family, Judy, Rachel, Scott (Diane), and Matthew (Deborah Parker). He has family in Baltimore, including a brother, Herbert and his family. He will always be remembered by extended family in Vermont, where he could sail and repair the wooden sail boats that he loved so much.
The family wants to thank the community of Trumansburg, his dedicated caregivers, and his friends who gave such wonderful support to him.
A Celebration of Bob's Life will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2009, with the Rev. Gurdon Brewster officiating.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be directed to the Bishops Fund, c/o Church Of The Epiphany, P.O. Box 459, Trumansburg, NY 14886.
The family have entrusted arrangements to the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg. 1-888-534-5446. www.ness-sibley.com.

Dear Judy,
Joyce and I were deeply saddened to learn of Bob's death. Everyone has someone they wish they were a little more like, and Bob was one of those people for me. He was generous and thoughtful with an easy and spontaneous laugh. He was always a good friend to us and our family and we will miss him.

With condolences to Bob Lodder's family from your near-neighbors at the Logan Community Center. It was a pleasure having Bob and his wonderful array of T-Burg Toys at several Logan bazaars. He was so cheerful and encouraging, especially with children.

Dear Judy, I was so shocked to read this morning's paper. Bob seemed so robust with a real joyful disposition. I'll always remember him as a fellow puppy foster parent. My deepest condolences.

Tony and I were devastated to learn of Bob's death. I have so many happy memories of when we were teen-agers at St. John's Episcopal in Ithaca, as well as more recent times.
We are in Florida now for the month of March, so will be unable to attend the service. We send our love and sympathy.

My deepest condolences to Rachel, Judy, Matt, Scott and the rest of the Lodder Family. The T-burg Toy maker will be missed by the whole community, but also remembered each time a child (or an adult) tugs on a wooden pull-toy or tries to get the ball in the cup. May his deep belly laughs keep echoing in all of our hearts.
