Robert Seaney Obituary
Petersburg, IL - Robert Ramsay Seaney, 93, of Petersburg, Illinois, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, only four days from his 94th birthday. He was born January 23, 1927, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Thomas and Anna (Harrison) Seaney.
Robert served our grateful nation in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II. He was a Professor in the Department of Crops and Soil Sciences, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, for 35 years. He also owned and operated Seaney Greenhouses in Newfield, New York, which is near Ithaca, with his wife, Patricia. They moved to Lake Petersburg in 2003, where Robert continued to work at Seaney Farms Greenhouse, off of Rt. 97, where you could always find him watering the hundreds of plants.
Robert is survived by his wife, Patricia "Pat" Seaney; four children, Roy Seaney of Tallula, Illinois, Kathy Berry of Ithaca, New York, Linda Seaney (Tom Sarchioto) of Trumansburg, New York, and Janice Seaney of Seaside, Oregon; two step-children, Bill Schultz of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Heidi Schultz (Matt Bellingham) of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren and cousins.
Robert was preceded in death by his mother and father; his first wife, Sallie Seaney; and his brother, Tom Seaney.
Robert's family will be hosting a celebration of life at a later date. Cremation rites were accorded by Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg.
