RYAN P. OAKES
SENECA FALLS – Ryan P. Oakes, 79, of Route 89, Seneca Falls, died, unexpectedly, Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at his residence. Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home Inc., 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, on Saturday, August 14, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend James Enright officiating. Burial will follow in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls. If desired, contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Church, 97 W. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, NY 13148.Ryan was born in Seneca Falls on August 18, 1924, the son of the late Henry Owen and Mary Geraldine Ryan Oakes. He was a life resident of the Seneca Falls area and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the recipient of 3 Purple Hearts & the Bronze Service Star. Ryan was a graduate of Ithaca College where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He received his Masters Degree in Educational Sciences from Columbia University in New York. He was retired for Irving Trust Co. of Moravia, NY, where he served as President. He, also, at one time, owned and operated Victory Liquor of Ithaca, NY. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Seneca Falls and Lt. Cyrus Garnsey Post #1323 V.F.W., Seneca Falls.He is survived by two sons, Matthew Oakes, Naples, Florida; Brett Oakes, Penn Yan, NY; one daughter, Kaitlyn Ettinger, Palm Beach, Florida; one brother, William P. Oakes, Chandler, Arizona; one sister, Geraldine Nellis, Port St. Lucy, Florida; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Oakes.
