SANDRA M. "SANDIE" AVERY
DRYDEN - SANDRA M. "SANDIE" AVERY, age 65, of Simms Hill Rd., Dryden, NY and Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Friday, Dec. 9th, in Florida. Sandie was born Jan. 2nd, 1940 in Cortland, NY, a daughter of the late Edwin and Doris Thompson Devine. She was graduated from Dryden High School and was employed as a cook for many years in the Dryden and Cortland area. Several years ago she was the owner of the Wishing Well Diner and later Sandie's Sunshine Kitchen. She was last employed as a cook at the Dryden Queen Diner. Sandie was very creative with crafts and loved to work in her flower gardens in Dryden and in Florida.Survivors include her husband, William "Bill" Avery of Dryden; her children, Tracey Wilson of Cortland, Shelley Wilson of Battle Creek, MI, Pennie (Fred) Solveson of Ithaca, Lucille (Mike Soprano) Ellis of Lansing; her stepchildren, Alan (Bambi Hollenbeck) Avery, Steven (Linda) Avery and Julie Avery, all of Dryden; her siblings, Judy (Jim) Raymond, Linda (Steve) Avery, Christina (Bill) Thomas and Rick (Cindy) Devine; nine grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Richard Devine; and her sister and brother-in-law, Sally and David Turner.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14th, 2005, at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Leslie A. Smith officiating. Burial in Green Hills Cemetery, Dryden, will be delayed until spring. Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden.
