Shirley Hatfield Obituary

Hatfield, Shirley J.

Shirley J. Hatfield, 76, passed away in the presence of family at the Hospicare Residence on July 12, 2014. Born at home in North Lansing on April 16, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence C. and Audrey V. (Teeter) Howser. Shirley was employed at Cornell University's Vet School, where she had over 28 years of dedicated service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ivan L. Swayze and her sister, Christine Worsell. Shirley is survived by her husband, Roscoe J. Hatfield; her children, Deborah VanPelt (Roger) of Lansing, Larry Swayze (Terry) of Ithaca; grandchildren, Kimberly Skrzypczak (Eric) of NJ, Alicia VanPelt of Lansing, Jeffrey Swayze of Elmira; great grandson, Owen Skrzypczak of NJ; brother, Donald L. Howser of Lansing; and a large extended family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, PO Box 1848, Longmont, CO, 80502, or online at www.npcf.us. Burial at North Lansing Cemetery will be private. Lansing Funeral Home is assisting the family.
