Walter Blodgett Obituary
Walter L. "Wally" Blodgett, Jr., age 51, of Groton, NY passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 at his home after a brave and courageous fight with brain cancer. Born December 15, 1965 in Ithaca, NY he was the son of Walter and Florence Blodgett. Wally was graduated from Brooktondale Baptist School where he played basketball and was coached by his father and he later went on to coach the girls basketball program at Cortland Christian Academy.
Wally was the Manager of the Mirabito Store on Danby Road prior to his becoming ill. He was an avid sports fan of which some of his favorites were the Dallas Cowboys, Syracuse Orange, NY Yankees and NASCAR's Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and brother.
In addition to his parents, Wally is survived by his wife, Michelle Hora Blodgett of Groton, NY; his children, Joshua Blodgett and Victoria Blodgett; grandson, Owen Willis; sisters, Florence (Martin) Whitford, June (Jeff) Feller, Patricia VanBuren and Mary (Steven) Nann; stepchildren, Paige Rankin and Jordan Rankin and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call from 5-7 pm, Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. A memorial service will be held at 3 pm, Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Brooktondale Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Hammons officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Groton Ambulance Fund, Cortland St., Groton, NY 13073 or Brooktondale Baptist Church, P.O. Box 144, Brooktondale, NY 14817 or Hospicare, 172 E. We are saddened by the passing of Wally. He was a friend and a great manager for us at the East Hill Car Wash. Always kind and gentle. We can all take comfort knowing He belongs to God's family through his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Wally is in a better place now, and all his brothers and sisters in Christ will see him again. We pray for peace and comfort for Wally's family and friends as they adjust to life on this side without him.

I am so sorry to hear of Wally's passing. I am glad he no longer suffers, and he now sees the Lord Jesus face-to-face. I pray for the comfort that only the Lord can give enfolds you all. Wally was always good to Joe and me. Love your whole family. God bless you all.

Wally was an awesome boss and person!! I worked for him at Manley's from 2005-2007. My thoughts and prayers are with his kids, wife, family and his extended family at Manley's. He will be missed by all who knew him!
