William Radzik Obituary

William "Bill" Radzik

Trumansburg - William J. "Bill" Radzik, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018 at the age of 55. Bill was born in Ithaca, NY on August 3, 1962, the son of John R. and Judith A. (Hollister) Radzik. He is survived by his life partner of 30 years, Laurie Conlon; his daughters, Amber L. (Don Prouty) Radzik of Ovid and Erin L. (Derek Osborne) Worsell of Lansing, a son, Chad D. (Shannon Lupo) Worsell, also of Lansing; his grandchildren (to whom he was known as "Papa Bill"), Jordan E. Brinkley, Daiker L. Prouty and Haylee R. Prouty; his parents, Jack and Judie Radzik of Trumansburg; a sister, Tammy L. Doolittle of Ithaca, a brother, Michael (Vonda) Radzik of Trumansburg, and their families.

Bill was a graduate of Trumansburg High School, Class of 1981. For many years, Bill worked as a chef at Tri County Lanes in Trumansburg. For over 26 years, Bill was a devoted employee of the Trumansburg Post Office as a rural mail carrier. Always dedicated and hardworking, Bill gave his all in the service of his customers and enjoyed the daily interaction with those on his mail route.

His favorite activities included spending time with his family and taking numerous trips on his beloved Honda Gold Wing to various points of interest that many times included long stretches along the Blue Ridge Mountains. He also spent much time using his superior auto mechanic skills to help others whenever possible. Bill could always be found in his garage, spending countless hours repairing the vehicles of family, friends, and acquaintances. An ever-perfectionist, Bill possessed a talent in having the ability to repair anything that entered his garage.

In his spare time, he also enjoyed cooking and was a food enthusiast, taking every opportunity to try out new and different restaurants. In addition, Bill loved traveling with Laurie. His favorite destination was Maine, where he loved touring Bar Harbor, hiking Acadia National Park, filling up on lobster, and relaxing. After a recent Caribbean cruise, Bill could often be heard reminiscing about the highlights of his trip, his favorite being the opportunity to dine with the ship's Captain and his tour of the engine room. One of his most special roles was being a grandfather. "Papa Bill" devoted himself to his grandchildren, using every opportunity to create fun memories while at the same time teaching valuable lessons.

With a quiet and kind heart, Bill lived a humble life, raising his children and supporting his grandchildren. He was dedicated to his family and to his work, always going above and beyond, while continually putting the needs of others before his own. Words cannot express the loss of Bill's presence in the lives of his family. His giving heart, calming nature, and supportive advice will always be remembered.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street in Trumansburg. A Celebration of Bill's life will also be hosted by his family from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 3365 Potter Road in Ovid. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Taughannock State Park (www.naturalheritagetrust.org) or the Acadia National Park (www.friendsofacadia.org) would be greatly appreciated.

I am so saddened to hear of Bill's death. There were many days when my good neighbor, Bill helped me out with chores, questions, and automotive problems. Often, he just took the time to chat about anything and be friendly. Knowing he and his family were just up the road made life better. I send my sincere condolences to Laurie and all the family.
