William Standinger Obituary

WILLIAM H. STANDINGER, JR.
CANDOR - William H. Standinger, Jr., 75, of Candor, passed away at home peacefully in his sleep, Monday, July 30, 2007, after a courageous battle with lymphoma and leukemia.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Alice (Peterson) Sr.; and two sisters, Anna Marie Teabo and Elsie Sutton.
Surviving are seven wonderful children to carry on his legacy, Wendy and Rick Neild, Candor, NY, William H. III and Debra Standinger, Candor, NY, Jill Marie Standinger and husband, Larry Hume, Gansevoort, NY, John R. and Lisa Standinger, Chili, NY, Mark A. and Susie Standinger, Candor, NY, David L. and Margaret Standinger, Palmyra, NY, and Sandra and Michael Hoose, Nichols, NY; 21 grandchildren and one great-grandson, also many nieces and nephews; the mother of his children, Florence Standinger Sawyer, Owego; one brother, Harry (Nadya) Standinger, Lexington, Kentucky.
Bill was a 30 year Master Electrician at Anitec, retiring in 1997. He was a life member of Locust Valley Fire Dept., Long Island, NY. He served in the Korean War in Military Intelligence and was a member of the Arden Kelsey American Legion Post 907, Candor. Bill's love of nature was passed on to his children and grandchildren as well as his ability to fix anything.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Candor. Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Lee Love officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in William H. Standinger, Jr.'s memory to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank Dr. David Kwiatkowski of Candor and Dr. Bellina and staff at Broome Oncology for their dedicated care.
