Samuel Davidson Obituary

Samuel Zenas Davidson, 33, passed into his Eternal Life, April 10th after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer. One of tiny triplets born June 22, 1987 to Dr. Terry and Ann Davidson, Sam was a precious son, brother, and most recently, beloved husband.

The Newton community, schools and church provided Sam a spirited youth, filled with sports, strong friendships, and plenty of antics. He enjoyed playing Railer basketball and golf, graduating in 2006.

As a lifelong KU fan, Sam never entertained college elsewhere. He was thrilled to pledge Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and was soon surrounded by energetic young men who studied, partied, and matured together. These forever relationships steadfastly supported Sam through some of his most difficult days. KU Law School followed and was a proud accomplishment.

Sam's first job at Wolters Kluwer in Wichita, was an unexpected blessing. This fine company gave Sam the opportunity for professional growth as part of a great team. After Sam's devastating cancer diagnosis, compassionate supervisors and co-workers accommodated his scheduling needs for countless medical appointments. There simply are not enough thanks for their support.

Sam knew immediately Dr. Bo Zhang was the one for him. Smitten from their first date, Sam found his soulmate in this smart, beautiful, fun-loving woman. Their unconditional love provided him strength and great joy amidst overwhelming challenges. After 5 years together, they married March 7th, 2021.

Interests and passions helped shape Sam's adult life. An avid reader, Sam could juggle multiple books simultaneously. He loved anything to do with planes and flight protocols. Holidays and celebrations were particularly special to Sam. He took gift-giving very seriously and always made sure presents were heart-felt, and personal. Sam followed sports of all kinds, often reciting (statistics and scores) others had long forgotten. He couldn't resist puppies, babies, or a plate of steaming Thai food. Above all, Sam loved his family deeply and we will miss this wonderful, bright, kind man for the rest of our days.

Preceded in death by grandparents, Granville & Ruth Davidson, Harry Barsamian, and brother, Hadley. Survivors include parents, Terry and Ann, adored wife, Bo, cherished brother, Dr. Myles Davidson, and grandmother, Alice Barsamian.

A celebration of life will be held, Saturday, April 17th 10:30 am hosted by Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, 1200 Boyd Ave, Newton, KS, 67114; [email protected], or 316-283-6140. Masks required. Please use church entrance adjacent to Trinity Drive.

I just met Dr. Bo Zhang. She was a lovely person and her love for her husband was evident. So sorry for your loss and sorry I was not able to meet someone who must have been wonderful.

Dear DR, Ann and Myles,
May god bless you in this time of sorrow. I had the pleasure of coaching Sam in Basketball at Newton. His determination to always give his best was something I admired in Sam. He always demanded more from himself and was a great role model for his fellow teammates. Sam will be surely missed because of his tremendous work ethic and desire to succeed. Again May God Bless you.
Sincerely
Mike Bonczyk and Family
