She was a high-scoring bowler in various leagues and also enjoyed and excelled at cooking, sewing, quilting and gardening. Shirley's artistic abilities were reflected in her ceramics, crafts and her beautiful oil paintings, which won several top awards in the Berlin Fair.

Shirley also worked as a pharmaceutical technician at Rite Aide Pharmacy in New Britain, Connecticut and at EDS. She was actively involved in Parent Teacher Organizations when here children were in school. She enjoyed classical music, theatre and nature. She and Conrad enjoyed traveling together and their journeys took them to Canada, Kansas, Arizona, Washington D.C., Virginia, New York and several other states in the U.S.

Surviving family include her loving daughters, Debra L. Szabo, and Beth Ann Lewis and her husband Trevor; her loving son, Todd M. Szabo and his wife Meghan; and her precious grandson, Jacob Allen Szabo.
