Vernon Dyck Obituary

VERNON LEE DYCK Vernon Lee Dyck died on March 26, 2025, at Schowalter Villa, in Hesston, Kansas. He was born September 21, 1936, in Goessel, Kansas to Ervin and Agnes (Dirksen) Dyck. He joined an older sister, Phyllis.After their mother died in 1944, Ervin married Olga Schmidt and they had 3 more children, Galen, Sharole, and Kristi. He grew up on the farm north of Walton and went to Sand Creek School and Goessel High School.After graduating from high school, he served his county in Colorado. He spent the remainder of his life working on the family farm and at Hesston Corporation.He was a member of the Tabor Mennonite Church. Remaining are his sisters, Phyllis Nickel, Kristi (Jim) Fetty, and brother Galen (Paula) Dyck, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 2:00 pm, with a visitation beginning at 1:00 pm, prior to the service at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton, Kansas with Chaplain Anita Kehr presiding.A private family burial will take place at Tabor Cemetery, Rural Goessel, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Schowalter Villa and left in the care of Petersen Funeral Home.
