Charles Drake Starnes

1939 - 2025

LANCASTER, S.C. - Mr. Charles Drake Starnes, age 86, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025.
He was born Jan. 13, 1939, a son of the late Thomas Cecil Starnes and the late Alzora Bowers Starnes and was the loving husband of the late Carolyn Beatty Starnes. Mr. Starnes was a simple man who minded his own business and was easy going and laid back. He was an all-around good man who deeply loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Very talented with his hands, he could fix anything. Mr. Starnes enjoyed working outdoors, going to Lake Wateree, fishing, and spending time with his family. In his earlier years, he enjoyed barrel racing and won blue ribbons. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and was an avid Earnhardt fan. Mr. Starnes was a member of Shiloh ARP Church where he served as deacon in the past.
Mr. Starnes is survived by his daughter, Karen Humphries (Jon); grandchildren, Nick Starnes (Jessica), Meredith Brasington (Allan), Jonathan Humphries (Jenna), Lauran Lehman (Chris), and Kristina Ray (Dwayne); and great-grandchildren, Drake Starnes, Raegan Brasington, Landrie Brasington, Emma Lehman, Sawyer Lehman, Kasen Starnes, Fletcher Humphries, Josie-Kate Humphries, and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Starnes; two sons, Dennis Starnes, and Charles "Chucky" Starnes Jr.; his parents, Thomas and Alzora Starnes; and his brother, Thomas Cecil Starnes Jr.
The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Starnes will be 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, at Shiloh ARP Church, officiated by Rev. Howard Penegar. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m., one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made as love offerings for Drake Starnes' fight against cancer.
