Corey Montgomery Obituary
Funeral service is 4 p.m. Monday, March 20, at Jerry Hartley Funeral Home, 684 Hubbard Drive, Lancaster, by the Rev. Mitch Gulledge. Burial following at Elmwood Cemetery, Fort Lawn.
The family will receive friends 3-4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Born Jan. 10, 2000, in Lancaster County, Corey is survived by his mother, Jessica Gainey Beard; father, Kris Beard; daughters, Haven Grace and Madelyn Kate; brother, Hayden Beard; maternal grandparents, Berry and Debbie Gainey, paternal grandparents, Sherry Brown and Billy Beard; great-grandmother, Mary Katherine Bayne; and mother of children, Lindsey Robinson.

I will never forget meeting Corey - all those years ago back in Charlotte. It feels like yesterday. And then again in Asheville. He lit up the room every time he entered. I was always greeted with a warm smile and a loving hug. And always left laughing and smiling , feeling better than I did before. He had that effect on people. I will cherish all the laughs and times we shared together. He was truly a remarkable young man and I am truly grateful I got to call him my friend. I am sending your little girls and family lots of love and prayers, Corey. Rest easy my brother!

Dear Jessica, Kris, Hayden and family,
So sorry to hear about Corey’s passing. Know this is a difficult time for the entire family but hope you know there are many concerned friends and family members shedding tears and praying for you guys. I believe our Heavenly Father has welcomed Corey into heaven but He, probably, has shed many tears over Corey leaving his Earthly home and family. Hope you all can find solace in knowing that Corey is at peace with his God.

One of my favorite memories of Corey was when he was a toddler. He was taking a nap on the couch and it was time to get up. Jessica leaned down and softly said Corey, time to get up. He popped opened his eyes, looked at hers and instantly had that beautiful sweet grin. Mothers wish their toddlers woke from naps so easily and with a big grin of just seeing their face. Oh the love he had for her. To this day, I can still remember it like it was yesterday. Jessica, I love you and I am so sorry.
To the family, I love each and every one of you. May God continue to comfort you during these difficult times and may he wrap each of your hearts to shield some of the heartbreak.

My heart is breaking for all Corey’s family. I love them all. As I did him. I took him to school years ago. He made my mornings so happy (I am not a morning person) he loved coming to the house . We loved him so much his smiling face always made anyones day brighter! I just can’t handle much more heart break . But I know he is at peace .
