Emily Brazell

1931 - 2025

LANCASTER, S.C. - Mrs. Emily Williams Brazell, 94, entered her eternal home on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, after a brief illness.
Born May 13, 1931, in Williamsburg, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Willie Hazzard Williams and Rosa Ackerman Williams.
Emily was a devout Christian and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and friends, baking, and listening to gospel music. A proud Clemson Tiger fan, she never missed the chance to cheer them on from the comfort of her home. For more than 40 years, Emily faithfully served her church by caring for its babies – one of her greatest joys.
She is survived by her loving husband of 76 years, Clyde Brazell; her daughter, Brenda Criminger (Charlie); her son, Mike Brazell (Susan); granddaughters, Crystal Carter (Scott) and Jennifer Bumgardner (Jamie); grandson, Jonathan Ormand (August); great-grandchildren, Jason Dobbins (Caroline), Matt Carter (Sarah), Grayson Ormand, Landon Carter, Gibson Bumgardner, Olivia Bumgardner, Emily Bumgardner, Holden Ormand, and Rhian Ormand; and one great-great-granddaughter soon to arrive.
In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded in death by four brothers, Olin, Nelson, Gulva and Joe Williams, and two sisters, Dorothy Williams and Lettie Mae Clarke.
The family received friends on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025, from 5-7 p.m.at Burgess Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service was held Monday, Sept. 29, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Todd Robinson and Rev. Marty Simmons. Burial followed at Lancaster Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were made to the Carnation Foundation, P.O. Box 37, Lexington, SC 29072.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers with Agape of Lancaster for their compassionate care during Emily's final days.
