Mrs. Etta Ruth Arant

1931 - 2024

HEATH SPRINGS, S.C. - Mrs. Etta Ruth Marshall Arant, widow of the late John D. "Ted" Arant, 93, of Heath Springs passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, at her home.

She was born Aug. 5, 1931, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late John Curtis and Thelma Sue Marshall.

Mrs. Arant was a member of the former Pleasant Hill ARP Church. She was a secretary at the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office for five sheriffs - Nae Parks, Carolyn Arant Parks, Wilford Faile, Johnny Cauthen and Barry Faile.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Arant will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the graveside, with the Rev. Danny Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Arant is survived by daughters, Mary Etta Arant Taylor and Sheryl Arant Thomas, both of Heath Springs; two brothers, Clarence "Butch" Marshall and his wife, Carol, of Kershaw and Terry Marshall and his wife, Sylvia, of Lancaster; a sister, Martha Marshall Stover and her husband, Milton, of Heath Springs; grandchildren, Rhett (Stephanie) Taylor, Jon Taylor, Jessica Thomas, Andrew (Kayla) Thomas, Derrell (DeAnna) Thomas; and great-grandchildren, Abriana "Abi" Kay Taylor, Isaac Thomas, Drake and Khloe Small, Sylvie and Addison "Addi" Thomas, and Rylie and Ryan Beckham.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Arant; and brothers, J.C. Marshall Jr. and Stanley Marshall.

The family received friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at Lancaster Funeral Home.
