Joseph Matlock Obituary
He was born Sept. 10, 1939, in Pottsville, Pa., the son of the late Joseph Matlock and Elizabeth McKiernan Heffner and was the husband of Karen Schrimpf Matlock.
Mr. Matlock was the owner and attorney of Matlock Law Firm and a retired Colonel for the U.S. Air Force. He served our great country in the Vietnam War and Desert Shield and was awarded the Legion of Merit award in 1992.
Mr. Matlock is survived by his wife, Karen Matlock of the home; a son, David Matlock of Philadelphia; three daughters, Michelle O'Brien and her husband, Robert, of Boston, Catherine Matlock-Shally and her husband, Rudolph, of Amsterdam, and Samantha Matlock and her husband, George, of Philadelphia; five grandchildren, Jennifer Matlock, Liam O'Brien, Amelia O'Brien, Lena Shally and Samo Shally; and three great-grandchildren.
The family of Mr. Matlock will receive friends at his home from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials to be made to South Carolina Autism Society, 806 12th Street, West Columbia, SC 29169 or www.scautism.org .

I worked with Joe in the same legal office at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. We also lived down the street from each other in base housing.
Joe was one of the very few good guys at that office. In an office filled with arrogant jerks, Joe was always helpful and fun to be around. I'm sorry to now learn of his passing.
