Larry Clanton Obituary

LANCASTER – Mr. Larry Gilbert Clanton, 76, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at Brookdale Ebenezer Assisted Living in Rock Hill. He was born April 3, 1939, in Lancaster, a son of the late Gilbert Bennett Clanton and Elizabeth "Bess" Kirkley Clanton. He was the husband of Grace Nicholson Clanton.
Mr. Clanton retired from Builders Supply Company. He was a salesman and home décor decorator. Golf was his favorite hobby, and he also enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with his grandsons. He was a member of Second Baptist Church.
Mr. Clanton is survived by his wife of 54 years, Grace Nicholson Clanton; a daughter, Jennifer Clanton Collins and her husband, John, of Heath Springs; two grandsons, Dawson and Jordan Collins; two brothers, Robert Clanton of Lancaster and Charles Clanton of South Dakota; and four sisters, Audrey Austin of Kershaw, Kay Robinson and her husband, Roger, of Lancaster, Joan Weir of Rock Hill and Jane Small and her husband, Richard, of Lancaster.
The celebration of life funeral service for Mr. Clanton will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at the Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Dr. Brian Saxon and the Rev. Larry Helm. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday evening, Jan. 2, at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, and suggest memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association of South Carolina, 4124 Clemson Blvd., Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621; or Second Baptist Church of Lancaster, 1426 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Larry was such a wonderful man in his professional field. He gave much guidance to my late parents in their choices for home decor along with being such a giving and caring person. My late parents always complimented his work ethic and used his guidance and suggestions.
