Lee Player Obituary

LANCASTER - Mr. Lee Edmond "Eddie" Player, 70, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, at Atrium Health-Pineville.

He was born Nov. 17, 1951, in Chattanooga, Tenn., a son of the late Odell Player and Louise Jenkins Player. He was the husband of Renee Cauthen Player. Mr. Player had a loving passion for teaching Sunday school. He enjoyed golfing, going to the beach and upholstery work. Mr. Player proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard for six years and was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he earned his bachelor's degree. Mr. Player loved spending time with his family.

Mr. Player is survived by his wife of 50 years, Renee Player; two sons, Dr. Marty Shannon Player and Ryan Lee Player (Laura); a daughter, Anna Renee Reed (Nathan); five grandchildren, Railey Katherine Player, Sydney Reese Player, Trent Ryan Player, Lennox Grace Reed and Hardin McCarty Reed; a brother, Randy Player; three sisters, Dolly Turner (Bob), Cindy Moss and Candace Honeycutt; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Richardson (Keith).

Mr. Player was preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Louise Player.

The celebration of life memorial service for Mr. Player will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at Second Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Brian Saxon and Dr. David Carlton.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., one hour prior to the service, in the foyer of Second Baptist Church.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church, General Fund, 1426 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720.
