Dr. Williams was a wonderful mentor, professor and friend. As my colleague at APSU there was hardly a day we would meet at the copy machine that he did not serenade me!! His presence leaves a void in the Clarksville community and beyond. My prayers are with the family.

His exuberance will be missed. Every time I saw Al Williams he was on top of the world. In fact he sang to me loudly and clearly in a local restaurant not too long ago. He will be missed.

Dr. Al was an inspiration to a lot of students at Austin Peay, and will be missed. I had nothing but the utmost respect for him.

February 26, 2010

Gosh, what a guy! It was apparent in my first class with Dr. Williams that he was one of a kind. Also, he was on my graduate committee in 1976, along with Dr. Milton Henry and Dr. Preston Hubbard. He encouraged me in my writing and in my career. After my retirement from public schools, I was fortunate to see him at retired teachers meetings, until I moved to Kentucky. And Mrs. Williams.....he married VERY well. Frank Egbert

Allan was a special person with great heart. He was my great uncle but I always felt like grandfather. the past, is always concerned with my brother and my. He was very happy and loving and loved family gatherings hear him sing the Italian. He will always be in my heart and now is in heaven taking care of everyone.
Dear grandmother (Tita) love you and hope you soon in Argentina.

The loss of Al Williams to the Clarksville community, and to the world for that matter, cannot be measured. As the Rotary motto commands, he lived "Service Above Self" in every step of every day.

A few years ago Al took the Clarksville Rotary Club to task on our knowledge of the US Constitution by quizzing the group from one of his famous phamphlets. Needless to say, it was historic. His patriotism, love of country and wife Martha, is unmatched.

Al Williams was -- and will always be -- one of the most optimistic spirits whose path I've had the pleasure to cross. Talk about someone who could make you feel like SOMEBODY, Al lifted up everyone! He was one of those rare, larger than life personalities who kept his feet on the ground and helped so many people throughout his life in ways both big and small. Among his most endearing and inspiring traits, he never held back from saying "I Love You" to a friend. Al will be one of God's most joyous angels!

Clarksville and Austin Peay have truly lost one of their brightest stars. Al always greeted me with a huge smile and I always looked forward to crossing his path whether it be at a local high school football game, or just around town. We have lost true friend and great ambassador.

When Al walked into a room, it lit up! I will never forget the many times where ever he would see someone he recognized you he would sing a wonderful song...just for you. He made you feel special.

Words cannot express the feeling of losing Dr. Al. He always took care of me when I was growing up and gave me many wonderful words of wisdom.

Ms. Martha, I know it is difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, but looking back in memory may help comfort you tomorrow. Heaven is a place nearby, so there’s no need to say goodbye.

Watch down upon us Doc! Hug my Grand dad up there!

On the behalf of the LATHON FAMILY (Nellye, Rickey, Keith, Gerald, Jay and Kristi)
WE LOVE YOU DOC!

Dr. Al will be missed by so many it is unable to say or realize this loss. He never met a stranger. He went through his day singing and telling people he missed them. So fair well Al, God speed. We love you.

To the Williams Family. You have my prayers during this difficult time. I am so sadden to hear of Dr. Al's passing. He was a beautiful person. He was a great educator but I will most cherish and remember him calling the play by plays at the High School games. I felt like a princess when he called my name for our Homecoming. Heaven has truly gained an angel.

One of my fondest memories of Mr. Al was when he officiated the Special Olympics games at APSU. He was always full of life and enthusiasm. He touched everyone he came into contact with. He always made you feel like you were the only person in the room. You probably don't know me, but that just proves the wonderful impact Mr. Al had on so many people. I know the angles are singing and rejoicing with Mr. Al today. May God comfort and keep you through this difficult time.

My condolences..Doc was an inspiration and mentor to me as I attended APSU. He was always there to council and encourage me to succeed and fulfil my goals. We enjoyed talking of our Italian heritage on many occasions..Potere Dio riposa la sua anima il mio amico.

I had Dr. Williams for several classes during graduate work at APSU. He was so wonderful. He sincerely cared for his students and would do anything he could to help us. He was genuinely warm and he could always make us laugh. Once he invited the entire class to his home for dinner and Martha made us a wonderful Italian meal. He was on of my favorite people that I have ever had the opportunity to know. My sympathies are with the family.
