Mrs. Gladena Griffin "Dee" Chadwick, age 68 of Cunningham, TN died Tuesday June 13, 2017. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 2 PM at the Creek Wood High School with Dr. Neil Spence officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, June 23rd from 3 to 9 PM at the Taylor Funeral Home and on Saturday from 10 AM until service time at the Creek Wood High School. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Redeemer Presbyterian Reformed University Fellowship ministry fund, which can be sent to Redeemer Presbyterian Church: RUF Fund c/o Redeemer Presbyterian Church, 7 Valley West, Dickson TN, 37055.

Born in Hopkinsville, KY, she was the daughter of the late James Frazier and Louise Rothrock Griffin. Gladena "Dee" Chadwick was a beloved woman in her community, and she loved her community in return. She taught in the Dickson County School System at every level from Kindergarten to 12th grade for 45 years at Oakmont Elementary, Dickson County High School, The Discovery School, and Creekwood High School. She was a librarian who taught people to love learning, and she constantly read to children vividly and articulately, complete with character voices. She was an active member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church and loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a cancer survivor, a stroke survivor, a cat rescuer, and bird watcher. Her needlework won blue ribbons at the county fair, and her handmade cards warmed hearts. She loved to read, loved scrabble games, and loved to win at Tuesday Night Trivia. As one last service to her community, she wanted to donate her remains to medical research.

She is survived by husband Philip of 47 happily married years; 41 year old son Blake (wife Lauran); 36 year old son Blair (wife Rachel); and 4 grandchildren Noah, Jackson, Ada Grace, and Kathrynne; nephews, Glen and Jeff Baggett; great nieces and nephews.
