Lester Settle Obituary
The funeral will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday at St. Edward and Christ Episcopal Church, Joliet, IL with Rev. Katherine White and Rev. Denise Settle officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Joliet, IL. Visitation will be from 11:00 till hour of service Thursday at St. Edward and Christ Episcopal Church.
Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born May 24, 1918 in Stewart County, son of Pitts James and Nannie Emery Settle.
Mr. Settle was a retired from both the Georgia and Illinois School Systems. He received a Master of Education degree from Austin Peay, and was a World War II Navy Veteran. He was a member of Ft. Donelson United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers, Curtis, Roy, Gary, and Harvel Settle, and sisters, Ruby Henry, Ruth Ellis, Mary Yarbrough, and Dorothy Settle.
He is survived by, his devoted friend and companion of 54 years, Alice Wilbur, Joliet, IL; eight nieces and nephews, and 29 great nieces and nephews.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
Information for a local memorial service will be announced at a later date.
