BETTY THORNHILL Obituary
LAKELAND - Betty Jean Thornhill passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016.
She was born June 18, 1932 to Cecil B. Pollock and Elsie Coker Pollock and was a lifelong Lakeland resident.
Mrs. Thornhill was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 47 years, Paul M. Thornhill.
She is survived by her children, Cecil Thornhill (Lisa Howell) and Kathy Sweeney (Jimmy), and her beloved grandsons Tucker and Paul Sweeney.
In 1955, Betty graduated with a degree in Education from Florida Southern College. She taught thousands of children over more than 30 years as an elementary school teacher.
She was a member of the South Florida Avenue Church of Christ.
She loved to travel, read, and spend time with her family.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 8th at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the South Florida Avenue Church of Christ, 1807 S. Florida Ave.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Florida School of Preaching, 1807 S. Florida Ave., Lakeland, FL 33803.
