LAKELAND - Dorette "Mama D" Webb slept peacefully away on April 14, 2013 at Wedgewood HC Center, due to cardiac arrest.
She was born on April 23, 1942 in Water Valley, Mississippi to Hosea and Maurine Joiner (deceased). She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilman C. Webb.
As a Christian, she was a member of Mt. Calvary M.B. Church in Lakeland, FL where she faithfully served until her health failed her. Professionally, she was a pastry chef. Sweetness was her specialty. She was a wonderful mother, friend, sister, and grandmother.
A Lifetime of memories will be cherished by her family: six children, Kenny Webb, Sylvia Webb, Kelvin Webb, Eric Webb, Reginal Webb (Deborah) and Veronica Bartley (Abel); three sisters, Ernestine Copeland (Fred), Kate Adams and Lorraine Williams; four brothers, Alvin Joiner (dec. Betty), Verdia Lee (dec. Essie Bea), David Joiner (Brenda) and Roy Jones (Betty); brother & sister-in-law; Rev. Alex Sr. & Martha Harper and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The viewing will be Friday, April 19, 2013, 5-7 pm at First Baptist Institutional Church (932 MLK) and the funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 1:30 pm at the Church.

Mama D, Wow what fun we had at Publix back in the 80's. You were such an inspiration to many. I was the one who started calling you Mama D and I see you carried it with you to your grave. RIP now Mama and May God give strength and comfort to those whom you have left behind.

Words from man can never fully express the sorry we feel in the passing of 'Momma', but knowing the sweet, kind and laughable woman momma Webb was gently lifts our spirits.
Not only did she put 'Sweetness' into her baking but also into people like myself (Darlene) who got to know her in a very short time.
When the world asks,"What's LOVE got to do with it?", just look to 'Momma' and you'll SEE the answer.

To the Webb family...Mrs. Webb was a beautiful soldier in God's army. During my younger years while preparing for my wedding she played a main part in assisting with the reception.
