Derrick,
It has been many years of knowing and working with Fred...a lightening funny for you....while I was pregnant in 2000, your dad would graciously provide me and baby with our sugar high for the week...weekly on Fridays, a skim milk and chocolate iced doughnut would magically appear on my desk...he did this from August til December...never missing a Friday breakfast for me:) Your family is in my prayers...Fred is in a much better place now and is looking in upon us all. His graciousness and humor will never be forgotten. God Bless you all....

I will always remember Fred as a great father who lived his life around his precious son, a great man who knew everybody and made them feel at home in his prescence and my very best friend in spite of the miles that seperated us in recent years. His faith was an inspiration to me his love strengthened me in down times and his humor always lifted me up. He will always be in my prayers and in my heart. The world has lost a great man but I take solace that he is in a better place free of pain living in the prescence of a God that loves us all. Love you Fred.

Fred has befriended thousands durign his many years in education. He was always the funniest guy in the room, and everyone always smiled when they saw him. Fred was my Guidance Councelor in 1975 (whew) and a golf buddy until his illness progressed.

My last conversation with my friend Fred a few weeks ago was profound. He hoped that he, at some point, had helped me develop a closer relationship to Jesus Christ. He did.

God bless Fred and his family.

Comp (as his good friends called him) was always Pleased to see you when it had been a while...He rolled out the Red carpet with his personality and caring, as if it had been years... Fred always had something unique and humerous to say...His attitude of life was "live it to the fullest"...He did just that and then some...
(I knew he was ill and prayed for him often) -* Praise the Lord/Halleujah -that his spiritual life closed out on his natural one over the last few years... (and I know that for a fact)... as I saw him at a Healing Revival in Lakeland)... yielding himself to the Lord for his healing'...
Unfortunately, it was not Fred decision as to his last breath- but God's (as it is for all of us)... I and many others are so Thankful that Fred came to know Jesus in his last days! I too will see him someday!
We will all miss Fred, but I know he is in a better place and I await my turn to be his friend again (ETERNALLY) in Heaven! See ya someday buddy, save me a place on the sports teams up there- Friend!

Dear Comparato Family:
Fred, or Mr. Comparato as I first knew him as, was an absolutely wonderful person to be around. He loved life, loved to laugh and loved his profession as a counselor/teacher. Later, I became friends with him as an adult and he was still the same wonderful guy, but I also came to know how much he dearly loved his son. He will be sadly missed, in fact, he already is! Sincerely,
Anita (Todd) Whitaker

Fred was a true inspiration to everyone that knew him. I am so happy and blessed that I was able to say that Fred was my father in law. Through his battles with this cancer, Fred never gave up his positive "can do" attitude, always knew how to make us laugh, and always looked out for Derrick and I even towards the end of his days. I'll cherish the happy memories that we all had together as a family. The wedding, the delicious dinners he'd make, (Fred cooked up the best venison sausage I've ever tasted), birthdays, get togethers and all the other good, fun times we had together. We miss you so much, but we know we'll be seeing you again. We Love you Dad.

Mr. Comparato was not only a guidance counselor, but a friend. Many days were spent chatting with him before school and after, during lunch period. When you talked to him he was Fred. When my friend told me of his passing, I was saddened. Middle school was a hard time for me. You were a wonderful, wonderful man who had a positive influence on everyone you spoke to. Your out look on life was such a great one. I wish every guidance counselor were like you. Thank you for pushing me and giving the strength to never EVER give up!

you changed so many of us in so many ways. you touched our lives and our hearts. without you so many of us would be lost in our miserable lives; those of us who were taking the wrong road; you leant a hand and guided us to where he belonged. you were like a father to me... no one could ever replace the wisdom and loving words you gave me. please know that not a day will go by that you wont be on my mind; you were my mentor, my helping hand, my friend. the world is a better place thanks to you. no matter how screwed up someone was and how horrible thier lives were, you always befriended them, not once did you ever judge someone. you were an amazing man, and God is so lucky to have you by his side now. im quite jealous of the big man right now... i would give anything to just hear your voice tell me everything is going to be alright. but i guess that would be somewhat crazy; having your guidance through your own death....... i guess what im getting at is, i miss you more than words can even begin to explain, you were the most intelligent, loving , kind, and carefree person i had ever met. more importantly i want to thank you... thank you so much for all the advice and guidance you have given me. we all love you and we will all mourn you leaving us; but we all have to rejoice because we know you are now in a place where there is no suffering; no hurt; no pain. and thats where you need to be.

so thank you once again for not only being there as a guidance counselor but as my friend. you always went out of your way to make others happy.

and that has made you my hero.

i love you Mr.Comparato
i will see you again someday.

have fun in heaven
;)
i love you so much;
miss you more.

Derrick, Your dad was a true blessing to many people. He was a very positive person. He gave me the extra kick that got me going in the right direction that I needed to go in! Derrick, I don't know if you remember me, but we were in middle school together, though I was a couple of years ahead of you. I wanted you to know that your dad made a huge impact in my life and I believe he knew that. I remember coming to your house next to the park in WH, just to talk with him. He was a great person and you were lucky to have him as a father. When times were tough in my life he was always there and never turned me away. I never saw him turn anyone away. He has been a rock in so many lives and he will always be remembered for the wonderful man he was. I wish I knew that he was ill. I would have loved to tell him again how he changed things in my life for the better. The lord be with you and your family. I know it's been a while, but if there is anything I can do for you, please let me know. Thanks for sharing your father with so many people. The world is truly a better place because of him!

My prayers and deepest condolences to Fred?s family. He is already greatly missed but will live on in our hearts and fond memories. Fred had an awesome effect on everyone who met him. He definitely changed lives as he counseled hundreds of parents and students throughout Polk County. Fred had an extraordinary way of saying what was on his mind without mincing words because he truly cared about people and showed it in word and deed. One couldn?t help but respect and admire Fred and the way he lived life to the fullest always caring about others in a straightforward and honest way that only Fred could do. I am a richer person for having known him and thank God for the pleasure.

My condolences and deepest sympathy to the Comporato family. I know Fred will be missed greatly! I will always remember him with a great smile upon his face whenever you encountered him in the hallways of Haines City High. I will always remember him doing what he loved the best, walking up and down the sidelines of the football field during a game.
