FROSTPROOF - Glen Junior Wise of Frostproof passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Groves Center due to respiratory failure. He was 86.
He was born May 12, 1924 in Geneva County, AL to the late James Washington "J.W." & Rachel Sloan Wise, he came here from Geneva County when he was 2. He was the owner/operator of Wise Seed Co in Frostproof, a member of the First Baptist Church of Frostproof and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the American Legion and Masonic Lodge and a lifelong supporter of Frostproof athletics. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and, when he was younger, playing baseball in the semi-pro Orangebelt League.
Glen was preceded in death by his brother, J.T. Wise. Survivors include his wife, Guelda V. Wise; sons, Doug & Cindy Wise of Frostproof, Rudy & Linda Wise of Frostproof and Clint & Cathy Wise of Frostproof; sisters, Mildred Hinckley of Orlando, Tenny Ruth Croley of Frostproof and Lynette Vermillon of Ocala; brother, Wesley Wise of Frostproof; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM Friday, June 25, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Frostproof with Rev. Darrol Hood officiating. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery. For those who wish, donations may be made to any charity of choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at

As the anniversary of your death approaches, it just reminds me more of how much I miss you, my wonderful uncle! You were my role model on how a perfect gentleman is, and how hard work and dedication to family is paramount in life.

I have many great memories of Uncle Jr. He just enjoyed living his life, with his family at his side. Although the alzheimers robbed him of his memory, it never robbed us of his spirit. That spirit lives on. I wish I could be there at his service to celebrate his life. What a life he had. He was truly a self-made man who cut his own path.

While not with you in body, Mr. Junior will always be with you in spirit. Even though we are not "blood" related I have always been treated as part of your family and I am so sorry we could not be with you today. Our condolences go out to the entire family.

I know what you and your family are going through, and my symphathy, goes out to you and the family.
Junior was a wonderful man and will surely be missed by many.
Ralph(Hill), thought alot of Junior.
I will always remember, Junior, stopping at our table, at the Olympic, and playing his harmonica, for us. We did so injoy it..RIP. Junior, look Ralph up, when you get to heaven, he'd love to see you and chat about baseball!!
