LAKELAND - Jason Carlisle, 18, died early Saturday morning April 7, 2012 of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Hwy 98 in Lakeland. He was a junior at Lake Gibson High School in Lakeland and also worked at Publix.
Jason was born November 5, 1993 in Lakeland, Florida. He was preceded in death by his mother Karen Carlisle seven years ago, his grandmother Jean Carlisle and recently by his childhood pet, Crystal.
He is survived by his beloved father John Wesley Carlisle of Lakeland, brother, Cody Carlisle also of Lakeland who is in the United States Air Force stationed in North Dakota, grandfather, Dick Carlisle of Carbondale, Illinois, uncle, Ben (Suzanne), aunt, Julie (Pat), 3 cousins and his beloved dog, Jake.
Jason loved his family and spent many summers in Illinois to be with his grandparents and other family. Jason had a special relationship with his grandmother Jean who always took care of him. He played baseball in the summers at his grandparents and they always attended his games and were his best cheerleaders! Jason loved to fish and hunt with his grandfather who taught him well.
Jason had an extended family that includes Peggy Owen Carlisle and 6 cousins that looked up to him. He spent many hours driving them around on the riding lawn mower or Kawasaki mule, while always smiling, being very patient with them and always having a good time.
Jason loved anything with wheels. He loved to work on motors and fix things, just like his father, John. He loved his dirt bike, go cart and his fast RC car. Jason loved animals and helped raise chickens, ducks, goats, cats and dogs. Jason raised a pig this year and sold it. He loved the outdoors and always wanted to help. Jason was a good son and enjoyed life!
The family will receive friends Tuesday, 4:00 - 6:00pm at First United Methodist Church in Lakeland. Funeral services will follow at 6:00pm. Additional services and interment will take place in Carterville, IL. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Lake Gibson High School, c/o FFA, 7007 N. Socrum Loop Road, Lakeland, FL 33809. I cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. I was the first person to pass the accident scene. I called 911 and stayed with Jason until the ambulance took him to the hospital. I did not know Jason until that night, but he will forever remain in my heart and memory. I wish I could have done something more to help him. My deepest condolences to Jason's friends and family.

I didnt really know Jason, but my fiance and his nieces and nephews grew up with Jason. All they could say is how upsetting this is knowing a wonderful person like Jason was taking from this world. He was so quiet, never got into trouble, worked hard,always made you laugh, and such a great person to be around.I know we will all miss him very much and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
