JOHN WASLEY Obituary

JOHN TAYLOR "JAY" WASLEY, 61

WINTER HAVEN - Jay Wasley passed away Dec. 17th 2012 at Auburndale Oaks Heathcare Center due to lung failure.
Jay was born on Oct. 14, 1951 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to John and Kathryn (Kitty) Wasley. He was a graduate of Winter Haven High School and a member of the Blue Devil's marching band. Jay was an excellent drummer and was a part of the Southern Rock scene in Jacksonville in the 70s. He was a member of two bands that he truly loved, Cowford County and The Bonnie Gringo band. He considered his bandmates as brothers. After that he settled in Winter Haven where he worked for a respiratory service and continued playing drums in several bands and venues around Polk County.
Jay was preceded in death by both his parents and a loving stepfather, Jim Barnett. Jay is survived by his two sons, John Owen of Lakeland and Jordan Taylor (Loren) of Kansas City Mo. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Steorts (Jeff) of Winter Haven and his brother David James Wasley (Amy) of Houston Tx., two nephews, James Sherbino of Burlington NC and Mark Wasley of Houston Tx. and one niece, Maria Wasley, also of Houston Tx.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Good Shepherd Hospice of Auburndale, Florida.

Jay was one of the most optomistic fellows despite his troubles. I counted him a friend and he always gave me a smile and "thumbs up". I will always remember him as a possitive force in my life. Gonna miss you, Jay.
