WETHERINGTON SR., 72
John Wetherington, Sr., died December 4, 2007 of heart failure at Athens Regional Medical Center, Athens, GA.
A native of Lake Alfred, FL, he was the son of the late Samuel Ellie and Nina Lamb Wetherington. He served his country in the US armed forces. He retired from General Telephone and Electronics in 1986 after 30 years and was a Real Estate Broker in Chiefland, FL. John was very involved in church, formerly as a Sunday school teacher, choir leader, youth leader and was an ordained minister. He was a member of Cornerstone Church Of God.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Wetherington, children: Vicki Morrow of Tarpon Springs, FL, Clayton Wetherington, Jr. of Germany, Karen and Randy Rhodes of Danielsville; sisters: Audrey Roberts of South Carolina, Jimmie Lee Kile of Haines City, FL; brother: Ralph Wetherington of Vera Beech, FL; grandchildren: Christopher Gregory, Brandon Gregory, Taylor Rhodes and Christopher Clayton Rhodes.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 7, 2007 at 11AM at Cornerstone Church of God with Rev. Scott Shepard officiating. Entombment will follow at Athens Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held Thursday from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to James Robinson, Water For Life, P. O. Box 982000, Fort Worth, TX 76182.

I met John when he was in the hospital. It was such a pleasure spending the time with him. He reminded me so much of my grandfather Roy Jesse Wetherington. I lost the phone number that he gave me but,I have had him in my prayers. I know that you will surely miss him.
