Mary Jo Alderman Hollingsworth

Lakeland - Mary Jo Alderman Hollingsworth, age 64, passed away on January 2, 2021, in Lakeland, Florida, after a short illness. Mary Jo was born on August 2, 1956, in Lakeland, Florida. Her parents were Roland Lane Alderman and Mary Louise Hefferan Alderman. Mary Jo was baptized, made her first communion and was confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lakeland. She attended St. Joseph's School, Lakeland, graduating in 1970. She attended Santa Fe Catholic High School, Lakeland, graduating in 1974. She received a Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition from Florida State University and a Master's degree in Nutrition from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro.

After receiving her teaching certificate from the University of South Florida, Mary Jo taught at Hillsborough County School District for 10 years. She was married to Jeffery Hollingsworth on November 30, 1984. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister, with a big heart and a wonderful sense of humor.

Mary Jo is survived by Jeffery Hollingsworth; their children Jonathan Scott (Lindsey) Hollingsworth, Chelsea Hollingsworth (Matthew) Dobleman and Cameron Hollingsworth; brothers Michael (Silvia) Alderman and Patrick (Kathryn) Alderman. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, Lincoln and Nora Hollingsworth, and was excited to meet her granddaughter, Eleanor Dobleman, who joined us in March. While Mary Jo never got to hold her, she loved her very much.

A funeral will be held for Mary Jo Alderman Hollingsworth on Saturday July 24, 2021, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 210 W. Lemon St., Lakekand, FL. Interment will occur immediately following at Oak Hill Burial Park, 4620 Bartow Rd Lakeland, FL.
