Minaxi N. Patel, affectionately known as Mina, passed away peacefully at her home in the late evening of Saturday, December 6, 2014 in Murray UT. She had struggled valiantly with cancer. She was born March 3, 1953 in Adas India, the Province of Gujarat. Her father and mother were Dahyabhai Patel and Maniben D. Patel.
She received her primary and secondary education at several schools as her father's work would change locations. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics at Ahmedabad India. Minaxi married Natu M. Patel on May 19, 1978 in Ahmedabad India. In December of that year, they moved to Houston TX. In 1983 Natu and Minaxi moved to Ogden UT and later Salt Lake City. In 1992 they moved into their new home in Murray UT. They very appropriately named it the "Mina Mahal." Professionally, Minaxi worked extensively in the Insurance Industry, and later as a customer-service representative in the computer field. Her hobbies included cooking, traveling, dancing and singing. She particularly loved her home, and enjoyed hosting family and friends throughout the years. She was an impeccable home maker. Minaxi actively practiced her Hindu faith, praying daily in the temple she set up in her house. She was also active in the Salt Lake Indian Community, and participated regularly on religious holidays and festival observances at the Ganesh Temple in South Jordan UT, and the Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork UT.
She was pre-deceased by her parents.
She is survived by her husband Natu M. Patel, brother Ashok D. Patel (Varsha), sister Harsha K. Shah (Ketan), nephew Anand K. Shah and niece Pooja K. Shah, brother-in-law Raman M. Patel (Kapila), sisters-in-law Shantaben G. Patel, and Urmilaben K. Patel (Kirit), nephew Rakesh R. Patel (Manisha), niece Kavita T. Patel (Tejas), and dear daughter Gargee V. Vyas.
Natu and the family wish to thank Doctors Luke Buchmann, Kenneth Grossman, and Ying Jia Hitchcock, their staff, and the Huntsman Cancer Hospital for their compassionate encouragement and care.
A celebration of Minaxi's life will be held Tuesday, December 9th from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Lake Hills Memorial Mortuary & Cemetery located at 10055 South State Street, Sandy, UT 84070.
