FORT MEADE - Mr. Randall Burt Perry, 53, passed away together with his wife Sandra Cannon Perry and stepdaughter Kimberly Kay Tompkins, Sat., April 25, 2009 at Little Gasparilla Island, FL. due to a house fire.
Mr. Perry was born in St. Petersburg, FL and moved to Fort Meade from Clearwater, FL in 1992. He was a Citrus Grower and worked with the Polk County School Board as a School Bus Driver. Mr. Perry was a member of First Baptist Church, Fort Meade; a U.S. Coast Guard veteran; and a Softball Coach with Fort Meade High School. Mr. Perry and his wife had a love for the ocean and their beach home.
Mr. Perry was preceded in death by his parents, Charles R. and Marjorie Perkins Perry, brother, Roger Holder.
He is survived by his son, Christopher Shawn Tompkins, Richmond, VA; daughters, Jessica Perry Cochrane, Fort Meade, FL and Brittney Perry Medina, Bartow, FL; brothers, Clark Holder, Chattanooga, TN and Doug Holder, Trenton, GA; grandchildren, Belle Medina and Jax Medina.
Funeral Services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make contributions to Little Gasparilla Island Fire Rescue, Inc. in his name in care of Hancock Funeral Home, 945 E. Broadway, Fort Meade, FL 33841.

My heart aches for the family. I remember good times with girls softball, pitching lessons and bus trips. What a team family we had! Burt had a huge heart and it showed. Precious Jessica and Brittany ....I will keep you always in my prayers. What special young ladies you are.

This is the worst nightmare I have ever lived through. My heart goes out to Jessica, Brittney and Family. Burt and I worked together through good and bad times as bus drivers.... He will be dearly missed. He is a great person and friend. May your memories comfort you.

i am so sorry for the lose of your father and grandfather, i know it's not going to be easy, but always remember the good time you had. i only knew him for a short period, he was a very nice person to know. i also work for the polk county school board as a bus attendant.
