LAKELAND - Dick Sumner, 80, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015.
Dick was born in Nashville, GA, to Reuben and Curtis Sumner. He served as an Army Captain and provided dental services for the past 52 years in Lakeland, FL. Dick loved writing & reading fiction novels, creating & collecting artwork, & watching 'movie classics.' His favorite movie was The Godfather.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Cordie Mae Sumner of Lakeland, FL, 4 children and their spouses: Cheryl Sumner, Randy Sumner, Mike & Terri Brokaw, Tammy Sumner, Sherry Cox, Allen & Charlotte Sumner; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. His oldest son, Richard Carroll Sumner, Jr. preceded him in death.
Memorial will be held on Saturday May 23, 2015, 10:00 am at The First United Methodist Church, 72 Lake Morton Drive, Lakeland, FL, 33801, 863-686-3163. Reception following The Narthex.

Dr Sumner was the kindest, gentlest dentist and person. I went to him as a patient foryears, so very sorry for your oss. Words cannot ever expressed my gratitude as a patient, and friend. He is soooooooo missed and loved.
