KERAMIDAS, 89
WINTER HAVEN - Dr. Rita Marotti Keramidas, 89, passed away peacefully at her home in Winter Haven, FL on April 11, 2010 of heart failure.
She was born in Vanderbilt, PA on October 13, 1920. She attended local schools and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Pre-Med from Penn State University and was a member of the Kappa Delta and Charidies Sororities. She then received her Medical Degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia and interned at Kings County Hospital, Brooklyn, NY. Her residency in pediatrics was completed at Kingston Avenue Hospital, Brooklyn, NY. She was a member of the American Medical Association and the State and local associations.
Dr. Marotti was one of the founding members of Bond Clinic and served on the Winter Haven Hospital staff for many years. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of Lake Region Yacht and Country Club in Winter Haven, FL and the Blowing Rock Country Club, in Blowing Rock, NC.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. T.C. Keramidas, her parents; Edward and Nellie Marotti and her brother; John Marotti. She is survived by her sister Lena Marotti Gutierrez, nieces Kathy Cassady, Rita Kane, Janet Shetler and Nancy Gutierrez; step children; Robert, John, Mark and Mary Keramidas, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Memorial mass will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Chapel in Winter Haven, FL. Visitation will be held at Steele's Family Funeral Services, Winter Haven, FL on Wednesday, April 14 from 5 - 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cornerstone Hospice or St. Joseph's Church, Winter Haven, FL. Steele's Family Funeral Services

Dr. Marotti was my family's pediatrician for many years. I remember her fondly; she was always calm and kind, and had a infectious sense of humor. I enjoyed playing in her Disney-decorated waiting room--long before there was any Disney World.
My sympathies to Dr. Marotti's family. She was a great lady.

not only was Dr. Marotti my childhood doctor, Dr. Keramidas delivered me. I remember her and her nurse Shirley as very caring women. My favorite memory, of course, was the stick of Juicy Fruit gum after each visit.

I am a 57 yr. old fella living in New Orleans for past 38 yrs. Dr. Marotti was the Pediatrician for me as well as for my older & younger brothers. She was a great inspiration to me and I have worked my entire adult life in the medical field. To this day, I have a female primary care physician! I am certain there is a link! What a wonderful lady & physician she was. My heartfelt condolences to her family.

Doctor Marotti was both of my sons' doctor. She and Shirley Joens (her nurse), were caring and compassionate and both were very skilled. My oldest son was sick all of his young life and was a regular visitior to her office. Dr. Marotti also would come by our house to check on him almost every day when he was sick. She was a great doctor and a great lady. The world is a better place because of her.

My deepest condolences to all your Family. Dr Marotti was my Pediatrician
starting in 1962 when our family moved to Winter Haven. I remember she prescibed a solution for a cure for my worms. It was a orange colored, very
sweet flavored solution. I really looked forward to taking the doses during those days! It tasted great and
cured the worms. I thought she was a Great Doctor when i saw her at Bond
Clinic. Again, My upmost condolences to you all.

Doc was my 2nd cousin and she meant a lot to me. It was because of her that I am alive today. I was a 3 lb baby and she saved my life. She took such good care of me growing up and never charged my family a penny. I am so grateful to have had her in my family and I will truly miss her. I loved her!
She took care of a lot of people in Winter Haven and everyone absolutely loved her.

Dr. Maroitti was my husband's pediatrician back when house calls were part of the job. She was also my children's pediatrician when they came along. She was an icon among doctors and they broke the mold when she retired. May the blessings of her life comfort her family.
