GOLDTHWAITE, TX. - A Funeral Service celebrating the life of Robert Glenn Bentley, 58, will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at 9:30 AM in the Community Baptist Church, 956 S. Old Dixie Highway, Bunnell FL. Burial will follow for family members attending in the Strickland Family Cemetery, Korona FL.
Mr. Bentley, a former resident of Haines City FL, passed away on December 31, 2014, at his residence. He was born on December 20, 1956, in Miami, FL, a son of Claudia Ruth Glass Balogh of Boca Grande, FL, and the late William Lee Bentley. Mr. Bentley was a horse trainer, rancher, and was previously a professional jockey for 25 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Goldthwaite TX.
He is survived by his wife of over 31 years, Marcy Strickland Bentley, his sons, Clint Bentley and his wife Rachel of Dallas, TX, and Heath Bentley of San Marcos, TX, his daughter, Sara Bentley of Austin, TX, his mother, Ruth Balogh of Boca Grande, FL, his brothers, Bill Bentley of Winter Park, FL, and Keith Bentley of Avon Park, FL, and his sister Claudia Degroot of Boca Grande, FL.

To all of the Bentley family,wife, children and other relatives of Robbie. I was sadden to hear the news of his passing. I did not know that he had been ill. I always thought the world of him when we were young and in school together such a sweet and loving friend to all. A true gentleman. It has been a long time since I have seen Robbie but I know he was Such a wonderful young man with a great sense of humor. I know that your hearts are broken. I pray for the Peace that passes all understanding, the peace that only God can give unto us.
