Robin Wagman Obituary

ROBIN "PEANUT"
WAGMAN, 54

HAINES CITY - Teacher, mentor, and friend to many- but above all mother, wife and sister - "Peanut" lost her long and hard fought battle to cancer on Sunday Feb. 27, 2011 surrounded by her loved ones.
A 32 year veteran of the Polk County school system, she began her career at Bartow High School in 1982 and transferred to her alma mater, Haines City High School, in 1986. She thrived on coaching and mentoring her students and players as a physical education teach-er and volleyball and track coach. Most of all, Peanut was also extremely loving, loyal and supportive of her family, both immediate and extended. She was an inspiration to many and a hero to all she encountered.
She is survived by her loving husband Tim, her two children Alex and Lauren, her three adoring sisters Sharon Knowles (Leroy Knowles), Billie Bentley (Bob Curtis), and Tracy Mouncey (Matt Mouncey), and 13 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents W.K "Bill" and Laura Nable.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, March 2, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City and the service is on Thursday March 3, 2011 at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Haines City. Donations may be made to the Wagman "Against All Odds" Scholarship Fund, 6 Pine Forest Drive, Haines City, FL 33844. Condolences may be made via:

Words cannot describe how sorry I am that Peanut lost her battle with cancer. I can still remember walking down the street to the Wagman's house every day and seeing Peanut and Tim and Alex and Lauren. You were like a second mother to me and I am so sorry that I didn't know about this and didn't go to the services. Now I know my Dad will have some great company in heaven.

Mrs. Wagman was more than just a coach, she was a mother, sister, and friend to all of us who were "her" athletes. I am who I am today because of the confidence she instilled in me. She believed in me and saw something in me that I did not see in myself. As a result, I went to State in track for 3 consecutive years, set and broke school and county records while throwing the shot put and discus, and ultimately joined the Army where my athletic skill was instrumental in my career success. This is all because "Peanut" saw something special in the "water-girl". We shared many laughs and I will miss her dearly. To Tim and her children, may the peace of God that passes all understanding comfort your hearts and minds today and "Thank You" for sharing your wife and mom with all of us! God Bless, Angela

I first became acquainted with Peanut when she taught swimming to my older three children at the Davenport pool 20 or so years ago. She was so great with the kids. Since that time I have seen the great things she has continued to do for youth. I've known a number of young women who have participated in the volleyball program at HCHS. My son Nick and Alex also became friends through the years. My heart goes out to all of the family. It is a sad loss for your family as well as for our community. She was a beautiful lady inside and out.

Ms. Wagman....You will definately live on forever in the hearts of your students. Your smile always lit up the hallways of Haines City High School. You never met a stranger and went out of your way to make every student feel special and like one of your kids. You will be truly missed and the memories you left behind in your family, friends and students will live on forever. We love you Ms. Wagman. You leave behind great big shoes that no one else could ever fill the way that you did. You are the true meaning of "Super Woman."

To the Family of Robin "Peanut" Wagman, Blessed are they who give it all to God's children and expect nothing but their well being in return. Peanut has entered life eternal, but will not be forgotten for her legacy marches on in POLK County. The fight that she put up, for any of her children both extended and all has been called by her Lord and Master whom she is with, I'm sure. Let us not be sad today for she is in a better place, let us rejoice that she is with her Lord, Jesus Christ forever. To God be the glory for the good he has done for HIS children. We are all HIS children, I pray.

Tribute to Peanut

“…Best Friend of All”
As the years glide by do you ever recall
That special person - your best friend of all ?
Do you ever go back over the sea of years
To the one who shared your life and tears ?

How she giggled and laughed on the way to school,
How she splashed and shrieked in the swimming pool.
Did she sit on your porch on a summer’s eve
And wish on a star and make believe ?

How she ‘d walk with you to the picture show
On a Saturday afternoon,
And after the show on the way back home
She would hum the latest tune.

Then in the years of proms and dances,
Did she whisper to you her secret romances?
And when those school days came to an end,
Did she vow to be your lifelong friend?

Where is she now, that “best friend” of all?
Does she ever write – does she ever call?
Or did she fade with the passing years,
Remembered only through memory’s tears?

I will love & miss you forever
