Vera Elizabeth Ramus, 95, died on Friday April 11, 2008, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale of heart failure.
Born in Luverne, Iowa, on May 9, 1912, Vera moved to Winter Haven with her husband John in 1958. She worked in the EZ Food Store in Eloise for years and then finished her career as a bookkeeper for first Mortgage of Winter Haven. She was a member of the Garden Club, the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and a Methodist.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband John A. Ramus and granddaughter Tina Ramus.
She is survived by daughter Nancy Fitzgerald Bob of Winter Haven and son Dean Ramus Liz of Lakeland. She was a wonderful grandmother to Lynda Tharp Greg of Winter Haven, Susan Schmidt Jeff of Orlando, and Terri Bennett Keith of Lakeland. She had seven great-grandchildren, Austin and Brandon Tharp, Tyler and Lauren Schmidt, and Hailee, Derrick and Kurtis Bennett.
Arrangements for a graveside family service planned for a later date at the Lakeside Memorial Park in Winter Haven. Arrangements are being handled by Oak Ridge Funeral Care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.
