Tommy worked at the A&P grocery chain as a butcher for 10 years before he began his journey as a proud tobacco farmer until he retired. Once retired, Tommy found peace and serenity on his farm sitting on the front porch of his log cabin that he, his father-in-law, Willie Faucette and several friends built with their own hands from trees on the farm. The cabin is where the family held many holiday gatherings, in particular, the 'nut cracking' party during Christmas which brought so much joy to all that attended as they sang Christmas carols, ate delicious food and played Christmas trivia. You've heard the old saying "There's no place like home". There was no place like the cabin for Tommy.
Tommy enjoyed playing baseball at Oak Hill in his younger years and was always up for a game with the Atlanta Braves. He also had a passion to care for his cows and all the animals on the farm. Twice a year, you would always see him on his John Deere tractor cutting and baling hay for the cattle which brought him so much joy. Every fall as the crops were in and it was time to rest, Tommy and his wife, Carol, would host their annual Brunswick stew party that brought so much laugher and happiness to all that attended.
As the years passed, Tommy began going to the Harold Sherman Adult Day Center where he was cared for by such an amazing staff. He loved going there four days per week to see his friends, drink his coffee, exercise and participate in activities and crafts. The family is very thankful for the sincere, quality care Mrs. Gail and team provided to "Mr. Tommy".
