Kathryn Crawford Obituary

Kathryn Marie Crawford passed away in her home on October 23, 2024, at the age of 66, due to complications from stage four metastatic breast cancer.

Kathy was born on September 20, 1958 in Souix City, Iowa. She graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree in social work and later obtained her master's degree in social work from Washburn University. She spent her career in service to others, working for many years as a school social worker in the Salem-Keizer School District in Oregon.

She was always active in her community, serving as a deacon at Trinity Presbyterian Church, ushering for shows at McCain Auditorium at Kansas State, and recently enjoying fellowship with her cancer survivors and widows support groups. Kathy also lived a life full of art, conducting church choirs and handbell choirs, teaching ballet and choreographing musicals, playing the harp, and being active in community theater, which was where she met her husband Kevin.

Since retiring and returning to her midwestern roots, Kathy filled her days with sewing, crocheting, walking, and spending time with her dogs, Gracie and Bella.

She is survived by her children, Amber Plambeck and Jeremy Plambeck, and brothers Jeff Dixon, Brad Dixon, and Roger Dixon, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Wilbur and Marie Dixon, husband Kevin Crawford, and daughter Tiffany Plambeck.

She will be cremated and her final resting place will be Kansas Veteran's Cemetery at Fort Riley with her husband Kevin.
