Ty Hannebaum Obituary

Ty L. Hannebaum, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 28, 2023.

He was born on December 21, 1970, in Kansas City, MO; the son of Leroy and Linda (Taylor) Hannebaum. Ty graduated from Manhattan High School class of 1989, then subsequently graduated from Kansas State University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and later earned an M.B.A. from Northern Illinois University. Ty held a professional engineer (P.E.) license in the state of Illinois.

After graduating from KSU, Ty began his career at Landoll Company in Marysville, KS. After a couple of years, he moved to Rockford, Illinois, where he met and married the love of his life, Amy (Gustafson) on March 25, 2000, in Rockford, IL. Ty's career at E.D. Etnyre & Company spanned 29 years as a mechanical engineer in various roles including Senior Director and Vice President.

Colleagues, friends, and family all appreciated Ty's great sense of humor and have numerous stories to share about his antics and sharp wit. He had an innate ability to make those around him feel happy and at ease in his presence. Outgoing and driven, he was always welcoming opportunities to socialize and get together with his network of friends and family and made everyone feel special and included. Ty could often recall crazy catch phrases and share witty comments that would have the entire room laughing at its perfect application in the moment. Ty loved music and trivia. His memory was remarkable. An avid golfer from his high school team days, he loved to play with his son Jake and his close friends. He also loved coaching his son's baseball team, the MC Hammers. His daughter Brooke had him wrapped around her finger. He was extremely proud of his children, Jake and Brooke, and loved them and his wife, Amy, with every fiber of his being - his family meant the world to him.

Ty is survived by his wife: Amy Hannebaum, Byron, IL; son Jake Hannebaum, Byron, IL; daughter: Brooke Hannebaum, Byron, IL; father: Leroy Hannebaum, Manhattan, KS, brother: Todd (Zoya, Chloe, & Noah) Hannebaum, Highlands Ranch, CO, sister: Tara Hannebaum (Cole & Ryan Doebele), Arvada, CO, niece: Jordan Hannebaum, Alamosa, CO, father-in-law and mother-in-law: Duane and Barb Gustafson, Rockford, IL, brother-in-law: Joe (Kelly, Dylan, Colton, & Camden) Gustafson, Roscoe, IL, and brother-in-law: Jeff (Kim, Madelyn, Harper) Gustafson, Rockford, IL.

Ty's mother, Linda Hannebaum, and one sister, Tanya Hannebaum, preceded him in death.
