A.E. Longoria Obituary

Mission, Texas - A.E. "Tony" Longoria, 95 of Mission, Texas died peacefully on January 20, 2022 in his home.

Tony was born on March 11, 1926 in Mission, Texas to Pedro H and Belen G Longoria. Mission

was his lifelong home. Tony was a proud Mission Eagle and went on to Southern Methodist

University in Dallas where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1950.

Before graduating from SMU he spent a summer at Texas A&M taking some courses in

agriculture. He married Celeste Vela in September of 1954. They raised two children Tony A.

Longoria (deceased) and Laura Aissa Longoria. Tony was a long time farmer until his allergies

wouldn't allow him to continue to work on the family farm and then went on to work for Texas

Employment commission. As a farmer he always worried that he would go broke because his

own children did not like vegetables. He was an avid golfer and was fortunate to have the

opportunity to play at some of the best courses in both the US and Mexico. He played football

with Tom Landry (legendary NFL Coach) and was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a big

sports fan. He was asked to join the tennis team at SMU. He was a long time member of the

Mission Independent Schools School Board. He was a big proponent of the value of an

education. He enlisted in the Navy shortly after graduating High School.

Tony was a giver. He was a caretaker and always preferred it that way. He was loyal to his

family and loved them and did all he could to make sure they were well taken care of. He had

an incredibly dry sense of humor and was always present with his children and at their events.

Everybody knew and loved A.E. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, loyal friend

and passed on his love of grilling to his son and love of golf to his daughter among many other

things.

He is preceded in death by his father Pedro H Longoria, his mother Belen G. Longoria, his sister

Minerva Longoria and his son Tony A. Longoria.

He is survived by his daughter Laura Aissa Longoria of Austin, Texas, and his granddaughters

Erika D. Longoria of New York City and Rachel A. Longoria of Austin and his daughter in law

Diane F. Longoria of Austin.

There will be a memorial service on Wednesday January 26, 2022 at 11:00 am at El Mesias

United Methodist Church in Mission, Texas. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Mission.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to youth golf groups, SMU, El Mesias or a charity of

your choice. Memorial services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home of

I met Tony, his parents, and his sister Minerva when my family and I moved to Mission in 1954. Tony's parents were our neighbors. Minerva was my second grade teacher at Castro Elementary School. We had wonderful church picnics at Tony's ranch where the kids could run to their heart's delight. I officiated at Celeste's funeral and later at Minerva's funeral. May the Spirit of Comfort console Laura and Tony's grandchildren and other loved ones.
